I just heard a while back that the plan to eliminate 444 was serious. It seems hard to believe. I'm still not sure I understand how or why. Is it true that Kaufman would be built up as a replacement. Exactly what part would be eliminated? This seems like it could have a huge impact on downtown.
I really feel like fairborn needs a plan for the future.

Do you have a link for this? Curious as to the extent of "removing it". Are we talking about the portion between 844 and 4 or do you think it would include a portion of Broad Street?

Here is the story 444 goes between two areas of the base hospital side and commisary side Theater to Huffman dam. The base , 911 security says this is bad and needs fixed base has been preparing plans and options for last two years ODT is involved too 4 options have now been given to our city to review and give feed back to base and odt TOO much info to type here!!!!!!!!!!!! this info has been given to the city by base ,base is not ready to widely distribute yet. DFBA GOT copy after asking Chamber got copy too. [b]DFBA IS Concerned and is asking city how. when why and what their feed back will be! Broad st and downtown may well be badly impacted. or maybe not
but it seems nobody cares I think after the city gives this feed back ,broad st & downtown may be screwed!
the Chamber ( John Dalton) says when the base asks, he will give them feed back!
DFBA cares but we are only 40 members strong ,
Currently due to Al Molnar's request the base an city may have a town hall meeting in sept. who when where or if, have not been set
excuses for not caring: It is not funded Base study shows traffic will stay the same no one has seen study yet it is the bases project won't happen for along time 2012 or so will help Kaufman ave. Fairborn can't have any impact Base cares and would never do something bad for Fairborn The City Cares and... Al just wants to know who in our city will look at the factual info. and take some responsibility to say we as a City did our home work and advocated the best option for our city and then we get prepared for this eventual impact.

So would they close it all the way from Huffman Dam to the theater? And are they planning to move the 444 route? I heard that Kaufman would be altered to try to take more traffic.
Alan, If you can get that info to me I would like to do somthihng on the eFairborn web site.

I asked the question on base and was told by Col. Spacey that yes, this is in the works and the discussions have sped up considerably. He also said that all parties are 100% on board (state, USAF, county and the town.)
There will be more to follow "soon".
