 WWII Research
« Thread Started on Sept 11, 2009, 6:16am »

After my Father passed in 2003 I researched what he did as a pilot and lead pilot in the 452d Bombardment Group (H). Since then I have continued to research Bombardiers from the 452d BG.

Question: Were any Family members assigned to the 452d BG during WWII?

Recommend the following sites for obtaining additional information:

Army Air Forces of WWII has an excellent Research Help section and Forums where you can ask questions concerning Air Force units your Father served in:

http://www.armyairforces.com/ResearchHelp/tabid/99/Default.aspx Covers how to request your Father's records, to include awards and decorations from WWII.

Many Groups have associations that you can join. I belong to the 452d BG Association and receive a quarterly news letter. The newsletter contains stories and pictures from the unit during WWII.

The National Achieves contains information on Enlistment and POW records from WWII: http://aad.archives.gov/aad/

For unit historical records see the Air Force Historical Research Agency: http://www.afhra.af.mil/

Added: 43d BG, 5th AAF: http://www.kensmen.com/contents.html
