I am trying to do some research about my family history. In a death certificate from 1950, it states that my relative lived at 117 Mond Lane, Fairborn, OH. I was wondering if you have any information about Mond Lane: is it still in existence? Was it part of the Base Housing (he was stationed at WPAFB at that time). If it's no longer in existence, where did it used to stand (ie., what is now near that old site?). Any information you have would be most appreciated!

You pose a very interesting question. My first thought was that it was probably part of the old Skyway housing which is now part of Wright State. I have an old 1957 street directory and found a page that mentions Mound Lane as "part of the Skyway Park Military reservation off of Airway Rd. Airway was renamed Col. Glenn Hwy in the 60s. I'm guessing that's it.

I did some more online research using the tag "Skyway Park" and I believe you are most definitely correct in solving this dilemma for my mom and me! I guess they mis-spelled the street name in the obituary!
I was wondering if there is any way you would be able to make a copy of the street map page that shows Skyway Park/Mound Lane from your 1957 directory? My mom would be absolutely delighted, I am sure. Lt me know and I will send you my mailing address, that is, if it is not too much of an inconvenience for you.

Great, I'm happy I could help you solve the puzzle. I have included the cover of the directory and the page where Mound Lane is listed. There is no map for Skyway but the streets are listed. It was certainly no inconvenience I only ask that you help pass the word about eFairborn.com. It was actually a lot of fun. I also included a photo of the Skyway housing. It isn't the greatest but it will give you an idea of what they looked like. It's the only one I have.
I have copied Lt. Bob Shadowens who graciously shared the photos (including the directory) with me. Maybe he has more information about Skyway.

I am looking for someone. William (Bill) Hess. Not sure what year he graduated or anything just that he went to this school.
